Video marketing for business exploded in 2015, and the prediction for 2016 is that it’ll continue to grow. With this being said, how is your business planning to capitalize on this trend? Making videos for your business is a great way to gain awareness, nurture leads, and close more deals. One of the first steps you’ll have to take to accomplish this is scripting your video.
Let’s face it, not everyone is a “One-Take Charlie” as we call it in the Bluleadz office. A video needs careful planning to make sure you’re on target with your audience and their needs. Here are the steps to script your very own video.
The questionnaire is what keeps the goal in sight for the video. In this questionnaire, you answer questions like:
To get feedback from your questionnaire and video, you should share this document around the office. The best way to do this is through a Google Doc so the document is always up-to-date and no one is seeing an old version. This is the very foundation of your video; it’s important to get this step right to ensure your video is on target.
It’s a good idea to use a Google Doc for this step as well. However, be careful with how many people are able to edit it because it may get confusing. To make sure your copy doesn’t get too jumbled, ask editors to use the comment tool. This way, the original
text is still there and not every change is made, enabling
you to make the best decisions for your business.
The reason video is being so popular is because it has the power to resonate with viewers so well. Face-to-face interaction goes a much longer way than just text. So remember, in your video, be conversational. People will relate to you and your brand more and make the connection you’re looking for. Talk to them like you’re talking to a friend; avoid common business jargon like “growth hacking” or “cutting-edge.”
Sometimes, words that sound good on paper just don’t sound right on video. When you’re writing a script, make sure you’re reading it out loud while writing it to make sure it’s coming off the right way.
When you complete the draft, it’s time for the table read. This is a fun way to see how your script came out and for more feedback from your office. Small tweaks can be made from here based on how the table read is received. You may need to go through the video script a few times until it's perfected.
This is also where the script comes to life. Is there a joke that comes to mind while you’re reading through it or a funny idea someone wants to add? The more personality, the better!
Videos can be a great marketing asset for your business. If you’re not utilizing them already, it’s definitely time to start thinking about where you can be using them. Do you have any questions about how to script a business for your video?
