5 Reasons Every Marketer Should Get HubSpot Certifications

Okay, we all know that getting certifications for anything can feel like a distraction from your primary job duties. After all, you're already doing the job, is getting some certification really worth your time? However, if you're a marketer using HubSpot, earning certifications through the HubSpot Academy can be well worth your time.

Even non-marketing team members, like sales or customer service reps, can benefit from taking HubSpot certification courses.

Discover how earning different HubSpot certifications can fuel your career, enhance your skills, and drive success in the dynamic digital marketing landscape.

5 Reasons to Take HubSpot Certification Courses

1: You Can Unlock the Power of HubSpot Tools Through Certification

Odds are good that if you've been actively using HubSpot for any length of time, you already know how to use the tools that are core to your job duties. For example, if you're in charge of writing blogs and emails, you'll probably be at least passingly familiar with the HubSpot blogging and email text editors.

However, there's so much more to these tools than just the text editors and the built-in SEO recommendations. Take, for example:

  • HubSpot's Topic Cluster Strategy Tool. Before you blog, it's important to have a strategy that leverages SEO elements like keywords and internal linking. This helps to maximize the impact of your blogs. HubSpot's Topic Cluster Strategy tool helps businesses strategize their blogs by assessing keywords, organizing blog topics into clusters that you can use to link to related blogs, and helping you visualize how well you're covering a particular topic.
  • Image Meta Elements. Images are a great way to help communicate ideas for your post and to break it up visually so it isn't boring to read (kind of like this bullet list is doing). Adding alt text and other meta elements to images helps you avoid SEO dings, enhance the accessibility of your site for ADA compliance, and make your blog more crawlable for search engine bots. Learning how to adjust meta elements for images in HubSpot is a must for any HubSpot user.
  • AI Content Generation. HubSpot launched new AI tools for content generation and editing. The faster you can learn how to leverage these tools, the faster you'll start saving time on content generation!
  • HubSpot Workflows. Want to send a long chain of emails without having to manually schedule each one and ensure it's going to the right audience? HubSpot's workflow tool can be a lifesaver for creating evergreen email campaigns that send emails to leads whenever they meet the enrollment criteria.
  • HubSpot Sequences. Helping the sales team out with their emails to prospects? It can help to learn the ins and outs of the HubSpot sequences tool so you can craft better sequences that make it easier for your sales reps to close deals.
  • Call-to-Action (CTA) Editor. Every great blog post should have a great call-to-action that aligns with its content. These CTAs should give your reader a logical next step to follow. However, waiting for the design team to come up with something for your blog isn't always feasible. Learning how to create CTAs in the HubSpot CTA editor can help you flesh out your posts with relevant CTAs to keep your leads moving along the buyer's journey for your brand.

These are just a few of the tools I picked from the top of my head. Some are because I've written blogs about them in the past, others because they're tools I use nearly all the time when writing new blogs.

What do all of these tools have in common (other than being incredibly useful)? They're all tools that you can learn by taking HubSpot Academy courses.

2: HubSpot Certifications Help Boost (and Prove) Your Marketing Expertise

A HubSpot certification isn't just a picture with your name on it—it's proof that you know what you're talking about when it comes to whatever topic that certification covers. In the eyes of others, it's a mark that you know what you're talking about and that they can rely on you as an expert.

After completing a HubSpot Academy course, you'll have a basic understanding of the tools and concepts it covers. This, in turn, helps you become a valuable resource for the rest of your organization and your customers.

Imagine being the go-to expert for crafting compelling marketing strategies, troubleshooting HubSpot workflows, or managing your website's SEO – that's the power of HubSpot certification.

HubSpot's online training resources help shape novices into marketing maestros, covering everything from content marketing to lead generation, SEO, and deep dives into specific HubSpot tools.

3: HubSpot Certification Can Propel Your Career Growth

Speaking of becoming the "go-to expert" for any topic, another benefit of earning HubSpot certifications is that it can help you grow your career as a marketer. According to BuiltWith, there are 575,999 active HubSpot customers as of the time of this writing. That's a lot of organizations that need a HubSpot expert to help them make the most out of their HubSpot digital platform and resources.

You could be that expert for your own organization.

Having a HubSpot certification is good for career stability and growth because:

  • It helps you stand out on your marketing team as a valuable resource.
  • Many employers are willing to pay a premium for people who have proven skills.
  • It can help you perform better at your core job responsibilities—which can lead to improved performance evaluations.

In the competitive landscape of digital marketing, standing out is pivotal. HubSpot certification does more than pad your résumé – it propels your career to new heights.

Whether you're seeking to climb the corporate ladder or make your mark as a marketing consultant, getting certified helps you display your dedication to continuous learning and mastery of the latest industry trends.

4: Transferable Skills: Taking Your HubSpot Expertise Beyond Your Current Role

On a note related to enhancing your career growth, picking up a few HubSpot certifications isn't just for your current job—it's a suite of skills you pack up and take with you wherever your career path leads.

From small businesses to multinational corporations, the expertise you gain is versatile and in demand. You develop an empathetic understanding of the customer journey, learn how to leverage data to make strategic decisions, and gain insights into creating seamless user experiences—these are coveted skills in the marketing world (and beyond).

The educational aspects of the certification program nurture a skill set that transcends job titles and industries, making you an asset not just to your current employer, but to any organization that values innovative and data-driven marketing strategies.

5: Having HubSpot Skills Can Drive Marketing Success

There's nothing quite like seeing your marketing efforts translate into tangible results—and that's what HubSpot skills can help you achieve.

By understanding how to leverage HubSpot's analytics and integration capabilities, you can measure and refine your marketing efforts for maximum impact.

HubSpot's certification courses provide insight into how you can apply the platform to real-world scenarios. They frequently leverage stories and examples from real HubSpot users to equip you with practical knowledge. This, in turn, helps you create and implement strategies that lead to increased traffic, leads, and sales.

As you become proficient with HubSpot, you'll appreciate the intricacies of digital marketing and how to incorporate a variety of tools to make the most out of your HubSpot platform.

Top Accreditations for Marketers to Take

So, which certification courses should you take? The answer to this might depend on your goals. For example, do you want to show off your current skills or do you want to shore up specific knowledge gaps you might have on the HubSpot platform?

If the former, you may want to focus on courses you're knowledgeable in to complete them quickly and build up your list of certifications. For the latter, you'll want to focus on courses where you need help to reach the level of knowledge you want to have.

Here are some of my personal recommendations for HubSpot courses that marketers should take:

  • SEO and SEO II. Yes, HubSpot Academy has more than one course on search engine optimization (SEO). The first course covers SEO basics that every marketer needs to know, while the SEO II course helps you develop more of the skills you need to rank high in an ever-more-crowded internet. Both of these courses are a must-have for any marketer.
  • HubSpot Reporting. You can't reliably improve what you don't measure. The HubSpot Reporting course helps you learn the basics you need to know so you can leverage HubSpot's reporting tools to improve your marketing strategy as needed.
  • Hub-Specific Software Courses (Particularly Marketing Hub and Content Hub). HubSpot provides software training courses to help you get familiar with each of the Hubs so you can learn how to use them effectively. For marketers, the Marketing Hub and Content Hub software courses are a must.
  • AI for Marketers. Like it or not, AI is here to stay. HubSpot's AI for Marketers course helps you learn how to leverage AI tools more effectively to save time and make yourself a valuable part of your organization's AI strategy.
  • Contextual Marketing. To best impact leads and turn them into customers, hitting them with the right messages at the right time is crucial. HubSpot's Contextual Marketing course helps you learn how to craft personalized website experiences that convert leads into customers.
  • Content Marketing. It's a basic course, but it's a great place for any marketer to start with their HubSpot certification journey. The Content Marketing course covers the fundamentals of creating appealing marketing campaigns that captivate audiences with great content.
  • HubSpot Trainer Certification. Have the itch to become a mentor to others on your team? Take the HubSpot Trainer Certification course to pick up the know-how you need to get started!

This list is just scratching the surface of all the great training resources available on the HubSpot Academy.
